The defending, three-time, 6th region champions said they were “coming for everyone!” and they meant it!  Tuesday, the Bears achieved a statement (2-1) win over a solid, undefeated, ranked (19th) Manual team. It was the first time under Coach Mario Carrillo that the Bears beat Manual on the varsity level! 11 years of frustration finally came to an end. Abas Madar was the first to score for the Bears, by an Assist from, senior, Eric Swann making a 1-0 lead, early in the first half. Manual equaled the score with a good shot that went past Butler’s Keeper, Tyler Glass, putting the score at 1-1 at half. Butler knew we couldn’t settle for a tie; it was a must-win game for the Bears.  To open-up the second half, Manual and Butler both fought hard to make sure the match would not end in a tie. With 15 minutes left in the match, Yusuf Muhumed nailed in the winning shot, with an Assist from Eric Swann, putting the final score 2-1.

Keeper, Tyler Glass had a total of 7 saves from the match, taking him to 57 saves for the season. Junior, mid-fielder, Abas Madar reached his 10th goal of the season. Senior, mid-fielder, Yusuf Muhumed got his 15th goal for the season. Senior, forward, Eric Swann, with his two assists, brought him to 9 assists for the year.
Wednesday, Butler beat Moore 3-2 in a heated battle.
These wins put Butler at a 16-2 record for the season. Bears look to wrap-up the regular with Senior night vs. Fern Creek September 25th, and to finish the regular season, Butler travels to Doss for a district match up. This will determine the number one seed for the district tournament.
Come out to a game and see what everyone is talking about! Support the Bears soccer team, as they look to get their 4th straight 6th Region title!
