Bearettes Mid Season Update

Chris Mattingly

The Butler Bearettes have had a very successful start to their season. In December the team went on a six game winning streak with wins in the Queen Of The Commonwealth Tournament at Bullitt East. They Defeated teams, such as top ranked Christian Academy, as well as a win over regional rival Bullitt East. The team also won the Murray Bank Lady Tiger Classic. The team did these wins without leading scorer Leslie Baxter, as she is out due to injury. The girls currently sit at a record of 11-3; however, the regular season is far from over.

Looking ahead at this month the Bearettes have several huge showdowns coming up. One of them being against a 6th Region powerhouse team, No.2 Mercy on January 17th at home. The Bearettes also found out this week who they will face in the Louisville Invitational Tournament (LIT) They will take on Eastern on January 28th at Valley. If the Bearettes can survive Eastern they will then move on to face Bullitt East in a LIT quarterfinal. It is sure to be a very grind it out competitive tournament.

The girls last won the LIT in 2017 when they defeated Male in the final. But as for now they turn their attention to tonight, as they host Jeffersonville High at 7:30. Come out to support our Bearettes as they look to pick up another win!
